Chequers Inn

Dating back to the 14th century, this inn has a lot of history – the story goes that it’s home to two ghosts – a man dressed in green velvet who sits at a table writing with a quill and a soldier murdered from the Napoleonic Wars! But don’t let that put you off your pint!

Despite eight pubs closing every week, this is one of the few that haven’t changed over the last 100 years. If you’re looking for a pub without lager, fruit machines, music, SKY TV, flavoured crisps and kids then this is your ideal watering hole.
